AR hip registration

1.Supine position and skin preparation
2.Insert 3.2 mm half pins into iliac crest
3.AR hip registration with QR code

  Operation

1.Operative side up and draping
2.Skin incision with surgical blade No. 22.
3.Haemostasis with diathermy pen.
4.Dissect muscle with diathermy, Metzenbaum scissors and periosteal elevator.
5.Apply I/I retractor with two wet short raytec gauges underneath the blades.
6.Perform capsulotomy with diathermy pen and Mayo’s curved scissors.
7.Resects femoral head with reciprocating saw.
8.Remove femoral head with two ring handles or femoral head extractor.
9.Clear up acetabular side with diathermy pen and capsular forceps.
10.Ream acetabulum with acetabulum grater gradually to desired size.
11.Size acetabulum with provisionals.
12.Irrigate acetabulum with pulsatile lavage.
13.Apply prosthesis and secure with screws accordingly.
14.Prepare intra-medullary canal with femoral canal broaches to desired size gradually.
15.Apply trial head to perform hip reduction and test the stability and range of motion accordingly.
16.Irrigate femoral canal and the entire wound with pulsavac thoroughly.
17.For CPT cemented stem, turn off diathermy and prepare cement for application of implant.
18.Introduce implant into femoral canal with appropriate prosthesis driver and hammer.
19.Insert selected size of femoral head.
20.Reduce hip joint with prosthesis driver and manual traction.
21.Test stability of hip joint for range of motion.
22.Close wound with vicryl 1, vicryl 2/O and skin stapler.
23.Insert Fr 10 redivac drain.
24. Dress wound with cosmopore, plain gauze, velband and crepe bandage.
25.Resume patient to supine position with hip abducted; then apply abduction pillow between legs
